YOU ASKED. WE ANSWER.
How do I choose a real estate agent who really knows Winston-Salem and Davie County?
Choosing a real estate agent isn’t only about finding someone who can open doors or put a home in the MLS. In an area as varied as the Piedmont Triad, local knowledge can make a real difference.
Winston-Salem and Davie County may be close geographically, but buying and selling in them can feel very different. The same is true when you compare communities like Clemmons, Bermuda Run, Advance, Mocksville, Lewisville and Pfafftown. Home styles, lot sizes, neighborhoods, commute patterns, new-construction opportunities and even what buyers expect at a particular price point can change considerably within a relatively short drive.
A good local agent should be able to help you understand those differences—not simply tell you what a house is listed for.
If you’re buying, look for someone who can help you think beyond the individual property. Is the location right for the way you actually live? How does the home compare with others nearby? Are there communities you haven’t considered that might give you more space or value?
If you’re selling, your agent should understand the buyers most likely to consider your home, how competing properties are positioned, and how to prepare and market your property for today’s local market rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all strategy.
And don’t underestimate communication. You should feel comfortable asking questions, talking through concerns and expecting an honest answer—even when the answer isn’t necessarily what you hoped to hear.
